Aug 1: Food-Truck Lunch

Drift food-truck and Molly’s Eats held a food-truck lunch meetup at Victoria Park yesterday. I work in the South and haven’t been able to get to Drift for lunch this week so I was eager to try their sandwiches. I was starving from watching an hour of Eat St. after a vigorous morning yoga class and since it was a nice day out, a food-truck picnic sounded perfect! So off we went – D, me, and his camera gear.

We had the Jerk Chicken (and grilled pineapple) Sandwich & Pork Belly Sandwich from Drift. The Pork Belly sandwich was made with banh mi type ingredients – cilantro, carrots, daikon. Super yummy, but how can you go wrong with pork belly?!

I couldn’t resist getting empanadas from Molly’s Eats so we had a couple of those. I had been dreaming about the flaky crust since the first time I tried them at the St. Albert’s Farmers Market.

There were lots of food folks out that day and it was great way to spend a stat holiday – good conversation, great people, sunshine, and yummy food. To top off the sunny picnic, we went for frozen yogurt after!

Thought I would post a slideshow with some of the food pics from the day… so other people can drool over that pork belly too.

Nice post. I love the pictures too.
We’ve tried 5 different sandwiches at Drift so far, and all have been really good. Had a few at Molly’s eats too. All good. 2 great additions to the food truck scene.

But from the sound of it you didn’t try Drifts french fries! Oh my, they are fantastic. Spiced with mustard seed, fennel, and cumin. I went to see them downtown today to get some more!

No, I haven’t tried the fries yet – with bf being a diabetic and me calorie counting it’s a give and take game – we gave up fries for empanadas yesterday. But that does sound AMAZING!
